In order to succeed in life, you have to go through something called trial and error. I use to think I was in good shape and “jacked”, until I decided to get a coach. Thanks to coach Ryan @uvsu I was able to achieve the best conditioning I’ve ever been in! Since I started my training, I’ve learned many new things about competing and what it really takes to stepping on a stage. With that being said, in order to fulfill my dream of entering the fitness industry and stepping on stage, I need to restart by going back to packing on more clay. Sometimes in life you have to go backwards before you can go forwards. Like coach Ryan says, “it takes time, years of consistency, hard work, and dedication”. *This is my 5th year of training....and I’m nowhere close to where I want to be. The chest press is often seen as "dangerous.” But this is just a poor (and limiting) perception of a great exercise. After all, the chest press might only be harmful to folk that completely forgo ideal technique. And because you're still reading, here's one such component that will help you when you're hitting up this exercise 👍
As you can see in the video, an alteration in armpit angles (from 90° to 45°) can not only keep your joints healthy, but enhance your muscle activation. This position will also help you maintain scapular (shoulder blade) stability, improve your ability to keep your glenohumeral joint (shoulder girdle) in an externally rotated position, plus allow for correct thoracic spine (rib-cage zone) extension. What this all means is that by securing yourself in this optimal position, you can improve your lifting ability, all whilst ensuring that you do not fall victim to any annoying niggles that may arise if your technique is off the mark 👌
