  • Last weekend of winter decorations, so casually wandering around beautiful arcades to contemplate how pretty they’ve been over the past couple of months. Can you believe that Burlington Arcade has functioned as a shopping venue for exactly 200 years? Proof that nothing beats good old architecture, no matter the purpose of the building. Definitely prefer this over a crowded modern mall! 💯

  • Dunno how others are feeling but I am absolutely terrible at letting the festive season go. Will miss the magic that all the beautiful decorations have created around the city ✨ Being back to work after a sweet 2 weeks break makes the post-holidays blues real. Laters, Christmas joy. Now on to book myself some new year travels. Any ‘hidden gem’ citybreak suggestions? ⚡️

  • An unexpected warning to find in Central London, but these immaculate turned out mounted sentries traditionally stand guard at the entrance to Horse Guards on Whitehall. Look out for them in my latest blog post too, it has 105 ideas and inspiration for things to do and see in London with teens. My boys have grown up here, embedded in London life, from posing as toddlers with grandma and a guardsman on Whitehall to football matches at Wembley. They’ve made some great suggestions for the post and it’s been a lot of fun to put together. Give it a read and let me know if I’ve missed out any of your favourites? Link in profile ⬆️. The sentry in the picture is a mounted trooper of the Household Cavalry. They’re all active infantry soldiers who also take on these ceremonial duties, ultra patient too given the constant stream of onlookers. By the way, you can watch the Changing the Life Guard ceremony at Horse Guards Parade - it’s less busy than the Buckingham Palace guard change! 🇬🇧 #familytravel #travelwithteens #horseguardsparade #londonbylondoners

  • We generally don’t eat cake for breakfast, but you can still see this delicious Victoria sponge cake on the breakfast table. 🎂 And that’s because a couple of months ago when we stayed at Lamington Serviced Apartments in London during BabyN’s birthday week, we received a pleasant surprise from the Lamington team and we were treated with this cake and balloon for a mini birthday celebration in our apartment. 🎈 Seeing a huge smile on his face and those cutest expressions were extremely heart melting. ❤️ Really feel touched on receiving such gestures especially when they’re least expected... has anything like that happened to you? 😊

P.S. You can read about our weekend stay at Lamington Serviced Apartments (London) on the blog.

This exhibition is called ‘Me Somewhere Else’, where “artist Chiharu Shiota has created the human, non-digitised version of that early utopian world wide web, a complex and beautiful series of artworks based on our connections to each other and to all the pre-internet parts of this planet: the land, the air and the strange matter making up our bodies” [Timeout].

What are your thoughts about modern art? Do you find its symbolism and abstraction interesting or a bit too much?
