The #1 thing standing between you and your dream life is... You.
Your dream house, dream cars, dream girl/guy, dream career, dream body, dream vacations... They are right in the other side of fear, risk and sacrifice.
The real gift of living your dream life isn't 'externals' listed above - it's actually the traits and attributes you develop and hone along the way.
What are my most valued assets in life? It's certainly not my bank account, cars, real estate... It's the the confidence, context, perspective, empathy, impact, fulfillment, growth, support, love... I've earned along the way.
Those are the things that bring things that bring true happiness - and they generally come with a massive upside as well: deploy them effectively and you'll create massive value for others. With massive value creation comes opportunity and wealth. Then you get freedom to do what you want when you want to. Tie it all together and what do you get? A life better than you ever could have imagined.
It's so much easier blame our lack health, wealth and happiness on external variables.
"I had a bad childhood"
"I have bad genetics"
"this city is too expensive"
"my boss is a jerk"
"I can't live without alcohol, cigarettes, etc."
"there are no good guys/girls in this city"
"I don't have enough time"
"I have the worst luck"
Look, I get it. Life is really hard. No doubt about it.
I used to be a victim. I used to let life happen to me. I used to let other people ruin my day. I used to get frustrated by trivial things which were outside the realm of my control.
And then... I woke up. I realized that I could be more than just a victim, bystander or pawn - I could legitimately do anything I was willing to fully commit to.
I write this with one intention, and one intention only: I want you to feel the same way. I want you to drop your self-imposed limitations, lose your fear of the unknown, and embrace adversity like it's your only option.
