Last Fall I hung this linen café curtain in here for color (and privacy) and several peeps asked where I got it. I’m hoping it comes as no surprise that I made this amber beauty! Call it laziness or cleverness? But I didn’t bother breaking out my sewing machine for this one. Hem tape and an iron was all I used. If you’re interested, there’s a video tutorial up on my blog with all the deets. 👀 ALSO, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, happy Friday! #handmademodernhome
Coffee in my lounge chair, muffin on my lap, and the sun peeking out between the clouds for just one glorious moment. Feeling grateful. 🙏🏼🌤 Good things are coming!😻

If you've been hanging with me for a while, you know that I have a not-so-secret home decor budget hack. Whenever I find something I like, I use a nifty little tool on Pinterest to price-shop the item or search for less expensive lookalikes (ok, that's probably not what they created the tool for but my creativity knows no bounds when I'm trying to save money 😂) It's a really easy way to make sure you're making the right purchase. I've shared a step-by-step guide for you on the blog. Link in bio. -
We are having the weirdest weather this year in Nova Scotia. It seems Mother nature is not sure if she should be giving us Fall still or A full-on Winter. So, many days look like this where we are watching waiting to see what's going to happen next. Anyone else in the same boat? We have been swearing by the @WeatherNetwork app and their full Winter Forecast on theweathernetwork.com to not only keep us up to date with everything from sunrise and sunset times, to seeing where we are at on the radar map in the midst of another storm and plan ahead. Also, for you fellow parents, I'm sharing a little mom hack over on my stories for making your mornings easier. #WinterForecast#TheWeatherNetwork#sponsored

House of Brinson is one of my FAVORITE accounts. Their style is impeccable. Watching the work, passion, and style they put into restoring their old home is better than any night of netflix in my opinion. They just posted a tutorial on how to strip old doors, with multiple layers of paint. Check their highlights to see videos of the paint peeling off - so satisfying! *

This photo of my family was taken on the day we officially purchased, and moved into the Shabby Chalet. It is a home we never thought we’d love, let alone live in and WANT to transform. Yet, here we are. Isn’t that just how life goes? Many of life’s ‘nevers’ become some of our most exciting events!
My blog has slowly, yet officially, come to life. There’ll be some minor tweaks here and there, but I can’t wait to get to work writing! I am ready for the transition and look forward to sharing all of the steps it’ll take us to get from “Shabby” to the sophisticated cozy home of our dreams. So, go ahead! Click on the link in the bio and hit ‘follow’ on the blog! You might end up having just as much fun! 🙌🏻 P.S. Also check out @danikali_designed - I’ll be sharing my artwork alongside all the messiness that is : flipping a home! 😬 #tudorhouse
