We’re so luck to have a beautiful feature like the Cibolo Creek running through the heart of our community!

I kid you not. No edits, no filters (which I don't use anyway). I swear, God was showing off for us in Montana. We think we have the next sunsets in west Texas, but this here was MAGICAL!
It's hard to believe this year is almost over - while I haven't posted any photography consistently this year, I can assure you that I am thankful for the support. As I sit and make travel plans for 2019, I can't help but think how fortunate I am to be able to look back at all the memories I have collected. The places, the people, the sounds, sights and smells. I carry them with me each and every day. I actually have to suppress a little giggle at the memory of taking this photo.
We are all in such a hurry for a "better" day, a "bigger" future, we sometimes lose sight of the history that has shaped us into who we are - the good, the bad, the indifferent. It all matters. Each pebble, stone, brick of a memory, a piece of time make up the road on which we travel.
How appropriate this quote I authored in 2009 crossed my timeline again as I think of all the beauty, love, family, and friendship that holds a piece of real estate in my heart: "There are just some moments you enjoy the wonders & beauty and store them in the albums of your heart and soul because a photo just can't capture their true magnificence." - Michelle A. Today is #nationaldayofthehorse and what better way to celebrate then one of the shots from my "I'm just stopping for 20 minutes - 3 hours later, turning a 5 hour trip into an overnight one" photos.
Last fall, I was able to see a few horses of one of the wild mustang herds, up close and personal. And by up close and personal, I mean I was sitting on the ground as quiet as could be for what seemed like eternity, and two of the most beautiful creatures I have ever seen came up to me. They posed, played, ran, and drank from a small puddle of water next to me. After an hour of their shenanigans, they decided they were finished with me and moved onto "greener" pastures. Short of walking in a second line in New Orleans, dancing and singing to the Saints Go Marching In, this was probably one of the most "spiritual" experiences I have ever had. "Horses are mirrors to a man's soul. They'll show you back whatever you show them. Watch a man with a horse, and you'll see what's inside his soul.
The same could be said for a woman's heart. It mirrors what is inside a man's soul, often times unknown even to him."

Boy, has this sticker seen some miles, highways, byways, backroads and then some. Montana, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas...and that's just to name a few. Everything from remote kayak trips on sunny days to snow storms in the Grand Tetons. I've never been much of a bumper sticker person, but I'll definitely be ordering another of these.
Funny, I grew up and lived in the same area for 35 years. Thirty-five years. While I traveled extensively in those 35 years, those travels never compared to the travels of the last few. No schedule, no planned route, no place to be but where I was / we were.
My job has given me flexibility to work from anywhere. My faith has given me the courage. My family has given me the wings. Never in a million years would anyone 20 or 30 years ago imagine my life the last few years...including myself!
I try to buy a postcard from wherever the adventure leads, and I've got a stack I need to write down some memories upon. Those little nuggets will one day comprise the story of a lifetime. And oh what a life it's been!

When you can't find a planner that works for your crazy life... Including a corporate job, two businesses and a non-profit... You just create your own! Always make sure to include personal affirmations to remind yourself that you are awesome! 2019 is gearing up to be an interesting year!
“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.”– Lauren Destefano

Where words fail, music speaks. ~ Hans Christian Andersen
When I'm not taking photos or sewing wildrags, I'm humbled to be able to work with Warrior Cry Music Project (@warriorcrymusicproject)- a grassroots non profit dedicated to helping our soldiers and veterans overcome physical, mental, and emotional wounds through music.
Last week while in Kansas, a music based foundation donated a trailer full of gently loved guitars and amps. We're on the road back to Texas and excited about finding homes for them!
