A year ago around this time I held my first solo exhibition Avanto at Bang Bang Gallery, Helsinki. I can’t stress enough how great it was to see other people enjoy my work and discuss about it. It got me excited about the art world and I had big plans taking the exhibition abroad. But after the exhibition was over I felt a sudden conflict in me. The work didn’t feel the same anymore. Not that I didn’t like it, quite opposite, I still love the series. But more like I was already going foward.
I’ve been reflecting these feelings a lot during the past 6 months and come to a thought that I never was about the final product, but about the process of making them. The moment the doors open or I publish my work, it no longer belongs to me but to the world and the audience. There’s a lot more for me to explore around this thought and I think I’ll get a new chance soon, because new ideas of Avanto 2.0 (working title) have been growing inside me. I don’t want to do the same again, but to dig deeper, what else is there to discover about the subject. The goal is to exhibit the new Avanto 2.0 in early 2020.
Here’s some images from the series. Questions are always welcome! #bangbanggallery
