  • If love is a battlefield... you don’t wanna be caught fighting alone. 💕When you look to your side you wanna see your best friend there right beside you, having your back, supporting you and loving you. Knowing your spouse has your back offers security and connection like no other. ❤️.

💙 CONNECTION CHALLENGE: Consider this: Does your spouse KNOW you have their back? If they turn around and reach for you... are you gonna be there? Can they trust you? Can they confide in you? Do you stand up for them? If you answered no to any of these questions... you officially have an assignment for the week— turn those no’s into yes’s! #marriage365 #ichooselove 📸: @koriandjared

  • We made the BEST nachosssss everrrrr!!!! 😉 and the best part is that we spend time together 👨🏻‍🍳👩🏻‍🍳💓Making meals together teaches you how to tag team a situation and work together toward a common goal. If you are married and our blessed to have your time before dinner together, I challenge you to begin cooking together if you haven’t already. You’ll be surprised at how much fun you’ll have, and the food will taste better when you know you did it together. #Teamwork #cooking #marriage

  • SHE MARRIED A MOVEMENT!!!
Dr. King and Mrs. King were married in Alabama on June 18, 1953. The marriage ceremony took place on the lawn of the Scott's home in Marion, AL. The Reverend King, Sr., performed the service, with Mrs. Edythe Bagley, the sister of Mrs. King, as maid of honor, and the Reverend A.D. King, the brother of Martin Luther King, Jr., as the best man. Coretta had the vow to obey her husband removed from the ceremony, which was very unusual for the 1950s. (note also she hyphenated her last name) According to the New York Times, “the 350 guests, elegant big-city folks from Atlanta and rural neighbors from Alabama, made it the biggest wedding, white or black, the area had ever seen.”
However, Mrs. King would soon understand that when she married Dr. King she not only married a man, she married a movement. Mrs. King recalled: "After we married, […] I came to the realization that we had been thrust into the forefront of a movement to liberate oppressed people, […] and this movement had worldwide implications. I felt blessed to have been called to be a part of such a noble and historic cause."

  • 💡You have to go thru step #1 to get to step #2
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yesterday, @dannyjdotcom and I kicked off our podcast tour, ‘Brunch with my Besties’ with 90 amazing attendees and some of our closest friends in the industry (like @loriharder, @seekwisdompcw and @lisabilyeu) on the panel for a live podcast. It was also the 1 year anniversary of @thebestlifepodcast.
_
We decided last fall that we wanted to go “all in” on the podcast and we realized that hosting live events and connecting with ppl in person creates a much more special experience than trying to connect online ever could.
_
So we jumped. We announced it without knowing exactly what it was gonna look like.
_
And we figured it out on the fly. We didn’t know all the steps, but we knew the first one.
_
We booked an event space and then took one small action step at a time. And within 3 weeks, we planned and implemented everything.
_
It was far from perfect.
_
We went way over budget. Certain design elements didn’t get to us in time. Our AV equipment didn’t record our live podcast well. And on and on.
_
But over the last 9 years as entrepreneurs, Danny-J and I have learned that forfeiting our perfectionist ways gets us a lot further than sitting around trying to avoid and prevent every single possible pitfall, and as a result doing very little.
_
Shit is always gonna happen, so the question becomes: how okay can you be with uncertainty?
_
Or put another way: how well can you trust yourself to handle whatever stressors are inevibly come up?
_
We also “lost” money on the event. We paid out of pocket. Literally thousands of dollars.
_
But to us, the investment in our business and in our future means more than holding tightly to a few bucks or waiting around to get a big corporate sponsor (why would anyone sponsor us if we can’t show that we’re equally willing to put skin in the game for our success??).
_
Yesterday was incredible, and it will be the first of many live events we host, I guarantee it, even tho we don’t know where or when the next one will be atm😉
_
Can’t wait to see what’s next!
_
How bout you? Where have you taken messy action lately? Lemme know👇so we can help one another overcome our fears & GSD🙌

  • How’s this for the 10 year challenge? I started dating this guy TEN YEARS AGO today!! What?! 😱😱😱 Talk about making me feel old! The journey hasn’t always been easy; in fact, there’s been many difficult challenges we’ve had to overcome. BUT. After ten years together, I can still honestly say that he’s my best friend and it’s been such a fun ride to grow together and enjoy new chapters of life! Wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else. Love you so much, babe! 😘
