  • In between visited the Mawsmai and Aarwah caves (which I had posted about earlier), we visited one of the highest falls in India - Nohkalikai falls. 1100 ft.
.
It was lunch time when we visited this falls. Hence the Noodles 😁. There is a nice downward trek to the base of these falls. As we were a bit exhausted with the last days trek to the Rainbow falls and Living Roots Bridges, we decided to skip this trek. It consists of long stairs downwards. We did like 10 mins of these steps and came back up. .
You have a small local market here where you can do some shopping of wooden articles, some local spices etc. I really like a Jhal-Mudhi (Spicy Bhel) that we got here.
.
This fall has a sad legend associated with it. Noh Ka Likai means "the leap of Likai". As per the legend, a young woman named Ka Likai, who had a daughter from her earlier marriage remarried. Her new husband loathed his step daughter as he was not in favour of girl staying with them. Out of jealousy, he decides to kill her. When Ka Likai was away working, he slaughters the girl and uses her flesh to cook a meal. After returning home from work, Likai was surprised that her husband had prepared evening meal for her. She ate the meal without suspicion and had no inkling about the gory act her husband had conducted. However, she later discovered her daughter’s fingers in the betel nut basket. Distraught with grief and remorse, she rushed to the nearby cliffs and threw herself over the precipice adjoining the waterfalls. The fall has ever since been known as Nohlakikai. • At 150 ft above mean sea level, all we knew was to trek on the rock ridden belts of the mountain while we climbed the way to the next waterfallss!! No plans, no destination or kms to complete for the day. It was only hard core effort working out 7,800 steps until lunch or so we were told, hahah. Ain’t that cool? .

What’s the next adventure beat that you’re counting on? #whp
