I’m definitely guilty of recycling my outfits too often! I was dying to find something pink but practical for Valentine’s Day, but hey, this is the one I really LOVE. And that’s what this day’s all about, right?!
Wishing everyone a day with lots of love, both for yourself and for others. 🧡🧡🧡

I’m calling this shirt Crimes Against Tailoring. Although I also propose we build an army of Kalles in this fabric... 👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭
It was all going smoothly until the collar attachment. Then I discovered that the right-hand side of the shirt was far wider than the left. I guess I must have cut it off-grain but it’s hard to understand how, given they’re mirror pieces and so both were cut at once.
However it happened, I had several extra inches in the width of the piece at the top, and wrestling that in to fit the collar stand left my shirt very twisted on one side.
I fixed it as best as possible but I still have to give it a little tug to the right every time I stand up, otherwise the shirt becomes lopsided and the button stand sits on an angle. The fix is not pretty - I basted a weird angled pleat in at the shoulder seam, swipe to see it - although I’m pretty sure no one would ever notice.
Despite this, I LOVE this shirt. The fabric is #ladymcelroyfabric and it seems to be a popular combination with the #closetcasepatterns#kalleshirt . #armyofkalles people, let’s do it.
This is the tunic length but I brought the front up several inches and the back to match it so the hem wasn’t as dramatic.

Feeling like I’ve upped my sewing game by tackling a pattern with unusual but gorgeous detailing like this clever gathered wrap front (but really the whole pattern is beautifully drafted and was a complete breeze to sew...don’t tell anyone!😉) Sewn in this divine deep raspberry red slubby cotton from @fabworksmillshop - at only £5 p/m it’s an absolute steal in my eyes 😍
First garment to cross off my #sewsix2019 list ✔️
Trying new shapes and combining them together is fun, but sometimes I think it’s easier to see how it actually works when looking at a photo. This is my own geometry cardigan (I am working on writing the pattern but it will take a little time), a self drafted tunic and my beloved self drafted pink corduroys. All me made most days these days and I like it a lot!
here is a glimpse into a dream future where i sit around and make clothes all the time and sell them and beck models everything cause she makes my creations look cuter. •
happy @indie_sew#shirtmonth ! this was my first button up shirt and i’m thrilled with it. #memade#memadeeveryday#imakemyclothes
Here I stand before you, completely naked under my clothes. I'm no fashion model. Bug bites, some sunburn, and too much body fat. But I can pull off what I wear. My very talented wife made all the clothes I'm wearing.
We are Wingard Wearables, and we approach product research and development based on a background of weapon design and comfortable clothing that all comes together. We design weapons tailored to the body. Everything must be ergonomic, comfortably carried, and make you look and feel good yet lethal.

My #sewjo has been a little non-existent lately and I’ve really been struggling forcing myself along working mostly on gifts I really want to make, but still. I’ve always been super distracted and had trouble focusing (principal’s office every single day of 2nd grade to check if my work was done, notes that say nothing but “I have the attention span of a fly” over and over in my AP calculus notebook, and the list goes on). Micro bursts of white hot focus and productivity strike and make it seem not so bad, but I never know when they’ll come and I get frustrated that I can’t make them. Yesterday, extremely frustrated with the slowness lately I decided to try something to help my focus (namely stay in control of my distractions by creating low level distraction). Whoever suggested sewing with a cup of tea, a podcast, and a candle, thank you. I don’t normally listen to podcasts, because my thoughts are loud enough, but they distract me, so I thought I’d give it a try. One cup of matcha and a LONG list of podcasts later this #utmatilda (it’s beautiful) and a bunch of other little gifts are done. And I feel like my sewjo is back and I have a great new coping skill/positive distraction and so much inspiration! Better photos to come after gifts are given. Thank you @georgiaonyrmnd for all the podcast recommendations!

Mid week dreaming of my lovely handmade dresses 💞 Is this one 'too much' to wear to work tomorrow?! .
Hoping to get some time to finish up this zero waste craziness this weekend (check my slow sewing story highlight if you missed this WIP). 🧵
I’ve kept it on my dress form so it continues to inspire me even when I can’t work on it. 🧵
Does this count as #shirtmonth or is that just for button ups?? 🧵 @orageuse_patterns#blouseepicea #theyearofslowsewing
#sflsew10mins Day 19: I’m stepping back from sewing for a couple of days but that doesn’t mean no crafting! I decided to pick up my @isageryarn#arrowsjumper which I put to one side after I broke my thumb last year....but have completely lost my place! The stitches on my needles and rows don’t add up at all, so looks like tonight will be winding the wool back into a ball and starting this side again.... #imake#knittingmistakes#keepingcount#memadeeveryday

This is something I struggle with. I’m sure I’m not alone.
You wonder how long should I wait to make a move? Whether it’s in your personal or professional life it’s hard to know when to move.
Like today, I wanted to find the zipper, but my tire was low ( more like flat). I saw the check tire light was still on when they said they fixed it, but decided to wait and see if it went away on it’s own.

It’s #throwbackthursday to a time when I still had a waist! This is one of my favourite patterns the #agnestop by @tillybuttons. If you are in Melbourne and want to brush up on sewing with stretch , I’m teaching the Learn to Sew Knits class at @sewthispattern in March. Link to the class in my bio.
Finally back in front of my sewing machine and I feel a real sense of calm 😊
Here’s my entry for #sewingprecious (thanks @portialawrie & @sewstainability for the inspo!). This is a tape measure inherited from my grandma who was blind and a knitter and a sewist 😍 the holes on the tape mean you can feel the distance you’re measuring - absolutely genius. What perplexes me is that it’s in cm (on both sides!) not inches 🤔
Thanks @sewstainability & @chatterstitch for hosting such a lovely competition ❤️
