  • It would be a great privilege of mine to start a foundation for my 10 year old nephew Jeremiah Rock, who tragically passed away 2 years ago from suicide and a brain tumor. I don’t want anyone, no matter the age, to ever feel the pain he felt. His legacy and name means so much to me right now; and his memories are what’s fueling my interest in psychology and mental health. If you would like to join me in creating such a unique memorial in his honor, follow the link to my fund campaign. Thank you so much in advance. Link will be in the bio. #cancer #brain #child #medulloblastoma #suicideprevention #childdepression #neuropsychology #mentalhealth #memorial #donate #loveyourself #beatcancer Here is the link to the campaign. https://www.gofundme.com/the-jeremiah-rock-foundation&rcid=r01-154789420445-1d5d75ac69f44808&pc=ot_co_campmgmt_w

  • Getting ready to #celebrate
#memorial of
Sten Stures #leg.

1520, Åsundens ice by Bogesund. A #battle between #denmark and #Sweden took place.
On the swedish side Sten Sture the younger, on the danish side Kristian Tyrann.
Sten Sture was hit by a #cannonball that crushed his leg which was one of the reasons that Denmark won and took power of Sweden.

Celebration is done by throwing #cannonballs (#snowballs) and eating swedish #chokladbollar :)

  • The second site I visited, and probably more widely known to the world in general, was Choeung Ek, the most prominent of the Killing Fields.
.
.What stunned me, particularly when you compare it with other obvious examples such as Sobibor or Auschwitz, was simply how low-tech it all was. One at a time, blindfolded and with hands tied, prisoners would be led to a dug-out mass grave and then killed by blows to their heads and necks. They were killed with axes and knives, bamboo canes and agricultural hoes, iron bars and even needles. This was a very different feel from cold, indifferent, mechanised death - this was a guy standing above a pit physically bashing people’s brains in all day long. It really is something else to be here.
.
.2) The executioners used this tree to kill young children and babies by throwing them against it.
.
.5) The largest mass grave here contained the remains of 450 victims. Each grave is not far apart. They are simple, relatively small holes in the ground only a few paces from each other. You can see how close by the recesses in the final picture.
.
.6) Memorial to the fallen. It is literally filled with skulls, all showing the wounds of their deaths. I did a rough estimation and calculated there were around 550 skulls directly against the glass on one side. I don’t know how deep the skulls went. And that was just one side of four.
.
.I appreciate these things can be deeply disturbing to see, but when I went here I was left with a sense of wanting to talk about it - of spreading the word, as it were, and posting it on IG. I know few people view or read my posts but I believe it’s important for us to all to see and learn about these things, so that the memory of those who endured them will not be forgotten.
