Newborn chameleon #mental_wildlife
Chameleons or chamaeleons (familyChamaeleonidae) are a distinctive and highly specialized clade of Old World lizards with 203 species described as of June 2015.
The newborn chameleon in the picture has hatched out of his shell but believes it is still curled up inside its egg.
Eggs of chameleons generally hatch after four to 12 months, again depending on species.
Each young chameleon is born within the sticky transparent membrane of its yolk sac. The mother presses each egg onto a branch, where it sticks. The membrane bursts and the newly hatched chameleon frees itself and climbs away to hunt for itself and hide from predators. The female can have up to 30 live young from one gestation. Photo: unknown
“Many people are so imprisoned in their minds that the beauty of nature does not really exist for them. They might say, ‘What a pretty flower,’ but that’s just a mechanical mental labeling. Because they are not still, not present, they don’t truly see the flower, don’t feel it’s essence, it’s holiness—just as they don’t know themselves, don’t feel their own essence, their own holiness.” #EckhartTolle @hominum10@5d_awakening_consciousness
It's amazing how different your children can end up. It's the first thing that came to mind when I saw this image. Torren and Edan are absolute opposites in almost everything. The only thing they seem to share is they are both extremely loud and incredibly friendly.
Torren, for instance is extremely nervous about trying new physical things he judges as dangerous. He had balance bikes, scooters and a bike before three. He wouldn't touch them. He'd cry at the thought of having to get on his bike. Edan at 10 months old pinched a scooter from a child at a playground and zoomed off. It took Torren watching Edan scoot around to judge it as an activity he would give another go. Same with his bike. He's terrified at the thought of us removing his training wheels. So we've left them on until he finally decides he's okay.
Meanwhile, Torren is an exceptional climber. He conquers indoor climbs incredibly quickly if he has a harness attached. Archery, too. Our very first time he was hitting the bullseye almost every time. He just needs to feel safe to shine. Whereas Edan cackles at the hint of danger. I'm wondering whether Fawn will be different again. There is something intensely soft about his personality so far. Something certainly different from my other two.
Are your kids opposites, or very similar?
