  • 🚫These mistakes could be slowing your fitness journey.❗️
.
Fitness for me is a never ending learning experience. When I first started my goal was just to get in and out as fast as I could, cardio everyday, weights twice a week, and lifting light, fast and carelessly. If I knew what I knew now, my results would be much more significant.
.
▪️ FOCUS ON TEMPO: rushing an exercise does you no good, time under tension is where your muscle really does all the work.
.
▪️EXECUTE YOUR MOVEMENTS WITHOUT WEIGHT BEFORE PICKING UP THE WEIGHT: it’s hard enough to contact a muscle without weight, focus on executing perfect form sans weight before you decide to pick up the iron
.
▪️YOU CANNOT SPOT REDUCE: instead on focusing on losing fat in one area (which is impossible to do alone) focus on building an overall, well structured body that turns into a fat burning machine.
.
▪️MAKE SURE YOU’RE ALWAYS CHALLENGING YOURSELF: a huge reason people plateau is because they don’t step their game up, they continue using the same weights, reps and tempo. Change it up, add more weight, or reps or slow down the tempo
.
▪️TIME YOUR REST PERIODS: keep that HR up, and don’t dilly dally. If you have an hour to workout, your clock for 60 min and challenge yourself to complete all the workouts in that time frame
.
▪️DON’T OVERTRAIN: overtraining a huge reason some people don’t see results. Rest days are just as important. Your muscle have been through a lot, they need time to recover to be able to continue to grow.

  • “All literature is influenced by social and historical context - what human activity is not? - but a distinguishing characteristic of an enduring literary work is precisely its capacity to resist the context of its moment of production, maybe even to resist the knowledge and the intentions of its author.” - Jonathan Bate, ‘English Literature’ pg. 39
🍂
Started this title from Oxford’s Very Short Introduction series earlier this week and I’m positively reveling in its incisive discussion of the English literary canon. While I’ll admit I began my reading with the expectation that this book would provide more of a chronological overview of English Literature, I have been just as satisfied with its actual content, which is a discussion of the definition of literature, the cultural process by which works of literature are incorporated into the canon, and a handful of salient themes in English Literature. And that’s all in the first half of the book - who knows what the second half will bring! 🤓 .

  • Things to do with your essential oils...
.
Make Guasha!
.
I love this stuff!
.
Photo 1: What you need
1. Airtight glass jar (I used my old candle jar, love a good upcycle!)
2. Bicarbonate of soda
3. Triple distilled vodka
4. Essential oil(s) - this time I used Patchouli (has skin firming/toning properties so why wouldn’t you!) Photo 2: pour bicarb in jar, to about 2/3 full
.
Photo 3: add you essential oil (20 drops)
.
Photo 4: give the bicarb and EO a good mix (I love my little fork!)
.
Photo 5: top with vodka.
.
Photo 6: you want to add enough vodka so that when the bicarb settles you have about 1cm more of vodka
.
To use:
.
In the shower, get yourself about a teaspoon and give your body a good all over polish.
.
p.s. avoid your sensitive bits, and if you use on your face mind your eyes.
.
Don’t forget to check for skin sensitivity with the oil you use.
.
Comment below if you have any questions.
.
Hugs and love,
Bhavna xx

  • ✨Reminder that our Sunday classes are cancelled!✨
Join us this weekend Saturday, January 26th from 6:30-9pm and Sunday the 27th from 9-3:30pm for Making Peace with Your Body: a workshop intensive with @amberkarnesofficial , founder of Body Positive Yoga

With thousands of images of “perfection” shot at us every day, it can be easy to compare ourselves with others and internalize the constant judgment and scrutiny of our bodies. Not to mention all the “new year, new you” rhetoric that's soaked in shame and self-blame. Let's do it differently this January: Rather than resolving yourself to conform to the standards set by systems of oppression, why not revolt against them and do something revolutionary: make peace with your body.

This workshop intensive explores body acceptance through the lens of the yoga teachings. We will discover how the 8 limbs of yoga, the practice of non-attachment, a feminist lens, and techniques from cognitive psychology can help you get from self-loathing to radical self-acceptance.

This workshop combines movement (yoga asana), breathing and meditation, reflection and self-study, and an engaging lecture for an interactive time of self-discovery and transformation. We’ll discover ways to boost confidence, get in touch with our inner badass, and foster a healthy self image. Please bring a pen and favorite journal if you have one.

A limited number of partial scholarships are available to community members facing financial limitations. Folks with marginalized identities (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, folks with disabilities, etc.) will be given priority consideration. To apply for a scholarship, email amber.karnes@gmail.com.

9 contact hour CEUs are available through Yoga Alliance.
Investment:
$225 per student ($199 early bird until December 26, 2018)

  • Overpriced homes by far are the most outstanding and important of the listed results. This is usually due to the seller overvaluing their property or receiving a poor market analysis by their representative.
*
*
Overpricing your property can backfire due to various reasons:
*
*
*Scaring Off Buyers
If you price your property higher than the suggested market value then your property is likely to have fewer potential buyers view or consider it.
*
*
*Stale Listing
Generally speaking, if a property is on the market for too long, it begins to lose appeal to potential buyers. Perception of the value of a property can fall in the eyes of buyers when they are comparing properties in a similar price range and one has been on the market for an extended period of time.
*
*
*Financing Problems For Buyers
When buyers depend on banks for financing their real estate purchase, the property and price is scrutinized by the bank. If the bank considers the purchase price to be too high above the current market value, the bank may decline to finance the buyer.
*
*
*Agent Willing To List Above Market
There are real estate agents that may encourage or easily agree to a seller overpricing their properties for reasons that probably will not benefit the seller. *
Here is the most important fact about pricing real estate: Buyers determine current real estate prices, not sellers. The price buyers are paying for properties at any given time determines what the current market is.
*
Current market conditions describe the prices and preferences of buyers and are a more reliable gauge of how a listing should be priced than what any given seller hopes to get for the sale of their property.
