ben sana mecburum bilemezsin
adini mih gibi aklimda tutuyorum
buyudukce buyuyor gozlerin
ben sana mecburum bilemezsin
icimi seninle isitiyorum
agaclar sonbahara hazirlaniyor
bu sehir o eski Istanbul mudur
karanlikta bulutlar parcalaniyor
sokak lambalari birden yaniyor
kaldirimlarda yagmur kokusu
ben sana mecburum sen yoksun
sevmek kimi zaman rezilce korkuludur
insan bir aksamustu ansizin yorulur
tutsak ustura agzinda yasamaktan
kimi zaman ellerini kirar tutkusu
birkac hayat cikarir yasamasindan
hangi kapiyi calsa kimi zaman
arkasinda yalnizligin hinzir ugultusu
Fatih'te yoksul bir gramofon caliyor
eski zamanlardan bir cuma caliyor
durup kose basinda deliksiz dinlesem
sana kullanilmamis bir gok getirsem
haftalar ellerimde ufalaniyor
ne yapsam.. _________________________________

  • BIGGER LATS, BIGGER PRESS
.
But, isn’t a bench press a push exercise, and the lats are pulling muscles? Yes you are correct. Well aren’t the pecs and the lats antagonist to each other when it comes to their action? correct again. Here’s where the anatomy gets interesting. The lats attach to the FRONT of the humerus (not the back like many believe). When the arm is in front of the body the lats pull the arm back towards the body (extension and adduction). BUT when the humerus moves BEHIND the body, like what we see at the bottom position of a bench press, its action changes.

Muscles work by pulling their insertion towards their origin. Once the insertion of the lats (front of humerus) moves BEHIND the origin (around the seventh thoracic vertebrae and below) when the muscle contracts its action REVERSES and it will now move the arm TOWARDS shoulder flexion, and acting as a synergist to the rest of your pressing muscles during the bench press.

You can train it almost every day, high rep, low rep, low weight, high weight. As long as you train them hard and training often, and take into consideration progressive overload, they’ll respond well to the stimulus and won’t hold your other lifts back. Quite in fact, the lats help a little in squat, and a lot in deadlift, but that’s a topic for another day.

If you’re a strength athlete and can’t do a single body weight pull up, there are things you need to reconsider in your program. Bigger lats, bigger press, bigger lifts.
