My Whitney summit: 14,505 ft 🏔
Made it to the top of the contiguous US. Broke camp at 3am, summited around noon, and made it off the mountain by 10pm. 22 miles over 2 days (18 on day 2 alone!) and ~6,000 vertical feet gained and then lost. We hiked through freezing weather over snow and ice, but when we reached the top we were met with only blue skies and warm sun. One of the longest and most challenging days of my life but man, what an adventure. More photos to come but for now...rest. 😴

Sierra Nevada Sunrise Cloud
Deeply warm sunrise light bathes the clouds and mountain crests with warm light this last fall. This view, from the top of the northernmost of the Alabama Hills, shows Mount Whitney just peeking over a foreground ridge while the needles are bathed in direct sunlight. The huge, broad switchback of Whitney Portal road snakes up the front of the broad and massive Sierra Nevada escarpment. Hidden from view, the Alabama Hills upon which I was standing make it seem almost as if I was flying above the valley below.
