After waiting and hoping all week, we finally witnessed the northern lights dancing across the sky here last night. A single, clear day with no rain or snow yesterday was pretty much the only chance we had—the days prior were totally cloudy and now it's pouring rain with no signs of letting up soon. We spent 6 hours outside watching the lights change and fade in and out. Just before we decided to head in for the night, having already felt incredibly lucky to have seen what we did, the sky completely exploded in green and red light. I took the famous shot from the bridge (how could you possibly not?) but the photo that means the most to me is this first one, which was taken right at the end when I had thought I was about to go in for the night. Standing under these cod drying racks away from anyone else and seeing this with my own eyes is something I will remember for the rest of my life.
