A coalition of 16 U.S. states is suing President #Trump ’s administration over his Friday decision to declare a #nationalemergency to raise funds for a Mexican border wall. The #California -led lawsuit hopes to stop Trump from acting on his #emergency declaration. Trump’s decision seeks to circumvent the border legislation that was passed by overwhelming bipartisan majorities in #Congress . “Contrary to the will of Congress, the president has used the pretext of a manufactured ‘crisis’ of unlawful immigration to declare a national emergency and redirect federal dollars appropriated for drug interdiction, military construction and law enforcement initiatives toward building a wall on the United States-Mexico border,” the lawsuit says. The National Emergencies Act, which was invoked by the President, was enacted for times of national crisis, but the statute doesn’t specify what that means. To justify the drastic measure, the President claimed that the U.S. is experiencing “invasion of drugs, invasion of gangs, invasion of people”. Yet the majority of the drugs enters the United States at legal ports of entry; less than one percent of those apprehended at the southern border had a record of violent crimes; and most undocumented migrants settle in the U.S. after overstaying their visas.

Most mainstream wellness/self-help/healing/spirituality/coaching spaces perpetuate ableism in their failure to relate sensitively to those living with trauma and mental illness.
Looking at this meme, I almost want to laugh... I mean, it’s laughable right? The way that so many people talk about healing—in a manner that dismisses and discounts the terrifying triggers that haunt you when living with traumatic stress.
As I move through the process of understanding and treating my own Complex PTSD, I find myself simultaneously and not-so-coincidentally working to heal the psychological damage caused by these wellness spaces and by the corresponding dogma of New Age Thought and the Law of Attraction.
The New Age asserts that we are somehow each responsible for individually “manifesting” every inch of our lives and our reality. It is the belief that we serve as an “energetic match” for any experience we attract into our lives and an insistence that the conditions of our lives are only ever responding to our individual thoughts/internal state/morality/vibrational frequency.
The Law of Attraction is traumatizing in and of itself; It causes us to rupture, as parts of ourselves are elevated and others exiled in order to fit into a standard of “rightousness” and/or “goodness.” We abandon how we authentically experience life in lieu of curating, controlling, and manipulating our field so as to only give space to the clean/light/pure parts of life.
Not only this is not how trauma deserves to be attended to, but it’s not how reality works. Placing the burden of responsibility on the shoulders of the one who’s suffering is a violent philosophy that cultivates low empathy in people eager to gaslight, rationalize abuse, and victim blame survivors.

Reposted from @belinda_vegan - THE ANIMALS DON'T NEED TO HEAR YOUR EXCUSES. They need to you to open your eyes and see what you're participating in.
People probably like to think #animals die instantly, but apparantly that is not the case. Botched slaughters condemn animals to move down the processing lines fully conscious, all the while being skinned, boiled and hacked into, sometimes for up to seven minutes long. Nothing is done to stop it, because stopping the line costs time and time is money.
Now, I imagine most sane people would not hack their #dogs legs off or boil their #cat alive. Most people would also not do that to other animals and if they saw someone doing it, would probably intervene. Such acts are considered criminal and would cause massive outrage. However, once out of sight in slaughter houses, it seems such sentiments suddenly do not apply anymore. Not many people concern themselves with what happened to the cow prior to being turned into the neat slab of #meat lying on the plate. Where does this disconnect come from?
The suffering of all farmed animals is unique, particular, mostly beyond language to describe or explain. If we give it no thought, and yet eat them for our meals, turn their bodies into products, are we not morally blind, ethically dumb, and humanely remiss?
The question should be, not what are you eating, but whom you are eating, and that is the question on my lips. This suffering and death on such a vast scale must be considered ridiculous.

Reposted from @california_guncontrol - SB 376, Portantino, 2019. Restricts private sale to less than 6 transactions per calendar year for all firearms. This will reduce the amount of long guns on the private market if it becomes law, which is highly likely. Death by a thousand cuts.
We should not behave unjustly, nor should we be dealt unjustly. We must not be the cause of oppression for others, nor do we accept being oppressed by anyone. In fact all types and forms of oppression are prohibited and condemned in our religion (Islam). It is misconception that many of us think that Islam is an oppressive religion, rather Islam itself has clearly forbidden all kinds of oppression.
Prohibition of oppression in the light of Quran and Sunnah:
Oppression is forbidden according to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH). Allah (SWT) says: “Deal not unjustly, and you shall not be dealt with unjustly.” (Al-Baqarah 2:279). He says in another verse: “And whoever among you does wrong, We shall make him taste a great torment.” (Al-Furqan 25:19). @ukhtiashh #islamicquotes #islamic #oppression
