  • In Colorado, much can be learned from cows and buffalo as this is one of the only places in the world where the two animals live in such close proximity.
•
•
When a storm comes in, cow behave in a natural way. Cows sense the storm coming from the west and start to run toward the east; attempting to outrun the storm. However, instead of outrunning it, they actually run along with the storm and maximize the pain and frustration of it.
•
•
What buffalo do is unique. Instead of running away from the storm they run directly through it, minimizing the amount of pain and frustration they experience from that storm.
•
•
Buffalo charge directly into problems because they realize that procrastination and indulgence are simply creditors that charge you interest.

Which direction are you heading?

  • 🚨 ¡Cuida tu postura! 🚨

  • As humans we can be become strongly bonded to our beliefs. Beliefs that typically arise from our parents and peers. Little do we realise how many of these beliefs we ourselves have never questioned and how deeply rooted they are.⠀
⠀
Keeping this more to health and fitness have you ever questioned:⠀
⠀
Why you place more power with doctors and their prescriptions than you do with self remedying and preventative living?⠀
⠀
Why do you use resistance machines in the gym? Are isolated muscle exercises the right way to take care of your body and make your living sustainable to your 70s, 80s, 90s?⠀
⠀
Is it healthy to wake up to an alarm clock each morning?⠀
⠀
Are these things you've ever questioned? Do you follow blindly because someone told you it's good and you've accepted their word without exercising due dillegence? ⠀
⠀
The more lightly you hold, the more loosily you learn and adapt. You go with the flow of life, changing elements of your life as you learn how better to take care of yourself and others without your ego holding you back.⠀
⠀
It's the way of the tao.⠀
⠀
⠀
What beliefs do you hold onto strongly? How do you think your life might be different if you didn't associate so strongly with it?⠀

  • On this winter day, snow shoveling can often lead to back pain. ☹️ Pain is the body’s way of sending a signal to us that something is wrong or out of balance. Acupuncture is an effective, natural way to treat pain without the side effects of medications and surgery. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In Asian medicine theory, pain is due to an obstruction affecting the free flow of qi (pronounced ‘chee’). Qi is the vital energy that nourishes the cells and tissues of the body. When qi does not flow smoothly, pain and weakness can result. By inserting fine, sterile needles at specific points in the body, your acupuncturist will seek to break down obstructions. This enables the natural movement of qi and promotes the restoration of balance and wellbeing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Well, it’s a really good day/week to stock up! Today’s BOGO is buy Oregano, get a Melaleuca (Tea Tree) for FREE. Two for $22.

Oregano is a natural antibiotic, a “big guns oil” as I say. :

Use it: ✨When Immune threats are high. Take a drop or two in a VEGGIE Capsule internally (it’s strong) when you feel like you’re coming down with something. Antiviral and antibacterial properties help with colds, flu, sore throats, and respiratory viruses or infections. : ✨When you need digestive support. It helps to balance the good bacteria in your gut by killing yeast overgrowth (that can cause digestive issues and sugar cravings). Is potent in killing food-borne pathogens when you get food poisoning or a stomach virus. Great for killing parasites! : ✨For pain, you can apply a couple drops diluted in a carrier oil to a joint or source of pain (avoid super sensitive areas). : ✨As part of the Immune Bomb blend us oily people make: Frankincense, Lemon, Oregano, On Guard, and Melaleuca. :

Use MELALEUCA when: : ✨You need help with your skin or hair: heals wounds, scrapes, bruises, cuts, pimples/blemishes, dry scalp or dandruff, insect bites, athlete’s foot, nail fungus, lice (when combined with lavender), soothes and purifies skin. It’s antifungal, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial. You can apply straight on a blemish or infected area, dilute it, or even add it to your facial cleanser. Make your own maybe! : ✨Sinus issues or an immune boost. : ✨Use it to clean a surface, a dirty makeup brush, and when making your own household cleaners. Just a few examples! : ✨Diffuse to purify the air. Mixes beautifully with many oils (Eucalyptus, Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint). : ✨Emotionally and Energetically it is protecting and is known as the “oil of energetic boundaries.” Apply over heart before walking into a situation when you want to keep your peace. :

  • LOTS OF HEAVY DEADLIFTS/PULL-UPS THIS PEAKING BLOCK?

We love to train raw. Gloves are a sign of weakness right? 😂

What happens if you got yourself a lovely flapper grinding through that heavy single or volume set? How to continue training?

SPO2019 is right round the corner and you can't quite afford to miss your training until your flapper heals..
Nor can you miss that WOD that your box is doing together.

Good news, girls and boys!

You can tape it up with rigid Strappal tape (available at all pharmacies in Sg) and get through your workout without bleeding further into the bar and ripping your hand further.

But also look beyond the symptom if you can by:

1) working on grip strength during off season. This includes looking at scapular and glenohumeral (shoulder joint) stability and control

2) always moisturizing your hands between training days to keep your skin strong. A more moistened skin is more elastic and will not tear as easily

3) use of lifting straps when necessary in your volume drop sets. Don't let your ego get in the way of your strength gains!

Book a session with myself or any of my awesome colleagues at theposturelab.sg to learn how to unlock your grip strength!

  • Did you know? Women who participate in jumping and pivoting sports are FOUR to SIX times more likely to tear their ACLs than men who are playing the same sports!
.
🔸But why?
.
Well… there are three main reasons why women are more inclined to injure their ACL than men.
.
Reason 1 - Hips don’t lie
According to Armin Tehrany, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon and shoulder and knee specialist, it makes more sense that women are more likely to have issues with their ACL ligament because the wider a person's pelvis is, the greater the angle between the thigh bone and the shin bone. “The alignment of a man's leg is straight because they have a narrower pelvis," says Tehrany. "A woman has a wider pelvis, so the knee is no longer aligned straight. It's more at an angle, which means the ACL is at more risk for a twisting injury."
.
🔸Reason 2 - Menstrual Cycles
"When there are hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle, women's ligaments and joints can get looser, which means that during pivoting sports or shifting of the knee, the ACL is under more risk of tearing." says Tehrany.
.
🔸Reason 3 - The balance between your quads and hamstrings
.
"A lot of times a woman's hamstrings are not as strong as the quadriceps," Tehrany says, "Women should seek out a professional for advice on whether or not they have stability between the quad muscles in the front of the knee, versus the hamstring muscles on the back of the knee."
.
However, whether or not you have an imbalance in your quads and hamstrings, it’s always good to strengthen these muscles! They will help stabilize the knee and they can help prevent more injuries than just an ACL tear!
.
Remember, as Tehrany says, "The easiest way to treat an ACL injury is to prevent one."

In the gating process, menthol acts to stimulate specific sensory receptors in the skin, thereby blocking other receptors from sending pain signals to the brain.

Biofreeze Pain Reliever may be used up to four times a day - both before exercise or therapy (to relieve painful movement) and afterwards (to soothe muscle or joint soreness). In some cases, Biofreeze products may even be used during exercises or therapy.

Available at Snips Bloomington 💙 @biofreeze @summitsalon

  • Pure bliss✨ there’s nothing more relaxing than a hot stone massage, in my opinion💆🏻‍♀️ the heat from the stone stimulates blood flow & relaxes the muscles on a much deeper level. This allows the therapist to get deep tissue results without using much pressure, a great option for those who are more sensitive. Hot stone massage is wonderful for those with stress, anxiety & depression🖤 I can’t recommend them enough, I’m booking my next one now!🌿
