”Colour of Forever” For those who follow me on twitter or facebook this will look familiar. I made it for the #quickshape competition on Procreate website.
As I was using the tool I kept finding new ways to use it so this was a really fun experience. It was also amazing to see how all the other artists used the tool in their entries in such different ways. As this was one of the last pieces of the year I felt a weird sense of nostalgia as I was designing all the different objects in the picture with it’s own shape language. .
I felt the experience of the year and all these numerous paintings that I’ve done talk through me and even though I was once again learning new styles I somehow felt this odd confidence like “Mikko you’ve got this, it doesn’t matter if you’re learning a new style so that everyone can see it. You’ve got a black belt at visual yoga 💪 “
We so easily talk ourselves down from doing the scary creative things that when I heard those thoughts I really felt like I’ve grown as an artist. Remember that there’s nothing wrong with being your own cheerleader. I sometimes literally say things out like “this is going to be okay.” My most common phrase I use is “Hyvä Mikko” (Mikko you’re doing good) I say this at work, in trains, in the bed at coffee shops when I’m painting and I’m not sorry because it works like magic.

Probably took me about 5 hours to create this, how long does it take you to finish a piece? ☺️
