I’m calling this shirt Crimes Against Tailoring. Although I also propose we build an army of Kalles in this fabric... 👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭👭
It was all going smoothly until the collar attachment. Then I discovered that the right-hand side of the shirt was far wider than the left. I guess I must have cut it off-grain but it’s hard to understand how, given they’re mirror pieces and so both were cut at once.
However it happened, I had several extra inches in the width of the piece at the top, and wrestling that in to fit the collar stand left my shirt very twisted on one side.
I fixed it as best as possible but I still have to give it a little tug to the right every time I stand up, otherwise the shirt becomes lopsided and the button stand sits on an angle. The fix is not pretty - I basted a weird angled pleat in at the shoulder seam, swipe to see it - although I’m pretty sure no one would ever notice.
Despite this, I LOVE this shirt. The fabric is #ladymcelroyfabric and it seems to be a popular combination with the #closetcasepatterns#kalleshirt . #armyofkalles people, let’s do it.
This is the tunic length but I brought the front up several inches and the back to match it so the hem wasn’t as dramatic.
I started back at work a few weeks ago and found myself in a bit of a pickle 😬 Last year was rather stressful for various reasons and I’m the sort of person who eats my stress 🐷 🐷 So Very sadly NONE of my clothes fit me!!! 😳😳 I was in need of a solution and I needed it fast! This @mccallpatterncompany pattern was an absolute life saver! Super quick and easy, I managed to sew one each evening in the first week and that was AFTER spending an exhausting day wrangling a class full of new Kindy kids (who are absolutely adorable I might add 🥰🥰). Phew! I now have a few comfortable and practical items that I feel really good in.

The #darlowpants sew-along starts tomorrow 👏 I am so excited that so many of you signed up to sew with me over the next three weeks! I’m really looking forward to making some new sewing friends 💓
This gorgeous pair of Darlows was made by one of my awesome pattern testers @sew_singapore ❤️
These are my just released #darlowpants which I pattern tested for @inthefolds last year. It’s a fantastic sewing jigsaw and I loved taking my time and having fun with these. I thought the style would add bulk in all the “wrong” places but the lines & silhouette are clever and flattering. Thanks for having me along your journey Emily! Ps View A pockets left off!
I’m not sure why but it seems I’ve been drawn to sewing lots of pink things lately. So much so that many of my close sewing buddies tease me about the sheer amount of pink in my current stash 🙈
Did you know that blue is actually my favorite color? More specifically, the blue of that window pictured right behind me- yet I don’t have a lick of that particular blue currently in my wardrobe 😂

Have you ever seen something that literally made you shake because you were just so. Damn. Excited? That’s how working on this moto-Style jacket made me feel!
But the good feelings didn’t stop after I had finished hammering in the last of my heavy duty snaps- oh noooo.
I hadn’t realized when I was making this particular jacket just how much I was going to LOVE it once I slipped it over my shoulders. This jacket makes me feel so powerful and like I can take on the world! I don’t think I was prepared for my newfound love of this jacket 🤩

@bisforbryanna made the sweetest #lucidadress 😍 They sewed it up in a stretch velvet and I love how it turned out! The Lucida is a quick project and perfect for dipping your toes into sewing with knits. With warm weather on the horizon I am excited to sew myself a couple new Lucidas!
Did you see my tutorial this week to make your own felt pin banner?! Here's my collection as it stands, as you can see there's lots more space on the banner to fill. I think I made this one a bit too big!! 😂😂
I linked to some of my favourite pin shops in the blog post but I thought I would tag them all here so you can visit their Insta pages. 😍 These pins are all beautiful but unfortunately you can't see any of the details very well in this pic so I highly recommend checking the makers out! Anyway, if you want to make one of these banners, all the info is on the blog. Our first ever sample sale has started. We have some great deals for you 💙
Got this little organizer from Target yesterday because I’ve been keeping all my sewing supplies in an old amazon delivery box. I kind of want to get a second box for things like buttons, bobbins, elastic, etc. I keep all my thread in a little tin box at the moment but there’s not room for the bobbins (which I keep in my sewing machine). Just trying to get more organized with my supplies and such. #sewcialists#makersmovement#sewing#organization
