I hope you all have had a WONDERFUL December and happy holiday! ❤️ I’m still in Christmas mode and am contemplating leaving all my decor up through January, but not sure how my husband’s going to feel about it lol. .
I’m up on the new @carpediemplanners site with a blog post today showing you more of my December TN, using the free December printables and loooots of stickers from @simplestories_. This is a calendar I put in my December Daily insert to specifically note special events from this month (for memory keeping, not planning lol), so I did. not. hold. back. with the decor y’all. Sometimes I just don’t know when to stop. 😂 Links to everything, including the printables, are in my bio now.
On this day 51 years ago my mother was born.
Growing up, it was just she and I.
Today, a dusty chest of wonderful, beautiful, warm and hard memories.
She was darling. Truly.
Her heart to serve and love was like no one I’ve ever met. And I mean that.
She served with her whole heart despite her weaknesses and lived a life celebrating others’ strengths.
She’d look you in the eyes and deeply care about what you’d have to say.
She’d feed you all the food and share stories and laughs, with no need to know the time.
She’d find joy in the color of a butterfly, the beauty of art, a simple gift.
She’d close her eyes and feel the breeze and laugh as the wind would blow your hair into a mustache over your face.
She’d take a picture of the moment if a disposable was nearby. (True story)
She loved the water. She felt most alive there. Most in awe, most loved, known.
But a memory I love most:
She would grab the chin of my face, tip it up just so, look into my eyes and say “it’s going to be ok, you hear me?”
“I love you, boo boo. You hear me?”
I heard her.
I knew it would be.
I knew she did.
But it’s not until now that I know why she gave those words to me.
I’d need them.
Then and now.
I’d need to remember the freckles on her nose, the glow of her skin and the deep love in her eyes.
I’d need to know “It’ll be ok, you hear me?”
And on the days when hard memories would flood in, “I love you, boo boo. You hear me?”
She passed 13 years ago, but from certain angles she’s still here.
When I take the extra moment, the look-back in the mirror, when I see images of my profile, my mother’s daughter in the reflection, her cheekbones, nose, chin, clear as day in the image.
When folks who knew her look at me and say, “wow. I miss her. You’re a spitting image, Danielle.”
And I shake my mama-twinning head to agree.
It was hard in my young years.
There’s no doubt about it.
But God gave me Vivianna and she changed me.
She was a gift to me and I only hope my girls, in all my mistakes and mixups, look back with such fondness on their mother.
The freckles on my nose, the glow of my skin and the deep love in my eyes.
Happiest 51, mom.
I love you, you hear me.

I could have written notes all night after studying the scriptures from today's challenge.
Sometimes I wonder why we allow negative thinking which is unhelpful in so many ways to implant itself into our minds and then eventually into our hearts.
I love how it was only in the 1970's that science discovered about the link between the impact of our thinking and brain activity which effects every system in our body - when God had already told us about this in Scripture!
Such a challenge to actively capture every negative, unhelpful thought and replace it with things which are pure and lovely.
