The expression "burning the ships" refers to removing the possibility to return - as in explorers who sail to a new land and then burn the ships so they are forced to stay.
Minimalism didn't happen overnight for me. But I did have a ship burning moment where I was forced to choose between the life of travel/adventure/the unknown and the safety of stuff/a paycheck/health insurance/high speed blenders.
One phone call gave me the choice: Continue my adventure but forfeit everything I owned that wasn't currently in my truck, or return to the safety of a fully furnished apartment, three sets of snowboarding gear and boxes of designer heels.
I invite you to read about that moment in my latest episode, the link is in my bio.
