One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
their bad advice–
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
“Mend my life!”
each voice cried.
But you didn’t stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do–
determined to save
the only life you could save. –Mary Oliver • • • #rip#maryoliver#thejourney#littlebooks#mixedmediaartjournal#littlebook#pages#artjournaling#papers#mixedmediaart#mixedmedia#handstitching#fiberart#textileart#texture#instinctualstitching#beatrizhelton

😂Alone time is a breath of fresh air when you feel everyone and everything. Both a blessing and a curse.
... little pieces of inspiration that have been collected over the years. At the center is ‘The Journey’, a poem with deep personal meaning and one that I often share with clients. From my perspective, it can be related to Jung’s concept of Individuation. It is also a powerful metaphor for the process of overcoming addiction. 🙌 Mary Oliver
i didn’t know Mary Oliver’s work until my former (& magical) therapist introduced me to this poem by her a few years ago. i’ve been thinking about it a lot in the last few days since her passing, and of course, it’s very fitting to this current phase of journey. i’m thankful to be reminded of this poem. i’m thankful to be reminded of all my therapist did for me before i moved away. i am thankful for lesbians. and i am thankful for poetry. rise in power. 🙌🏻 #afemme#poetry#maryoliver#lesbianpoets#thejourney#theuniversehasmyback

This journey of life is filled with detours. Unexpected twists and turns. Some roads are filled with the most beautiful views, others not so much.
But if you keep going, keep chugging along, those difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.
And the most beautiful thing about your life is that if you don't like the road you're walking, you have the power to start paving another road ❤
For those who need to hear this today, don't give up!! ❤
Hope is here and beauty could be right around the corner.
Happy Saturday Loves! And Happy January 19th, and a BRAND NEW SERIES I am going to showcase over the next 12 months.
If you have been following me and my journey, you know I have referenced the fact that the number "19" holds a very significant place in my heart.
With this year being 2019, I felt it was only fitting that I do a series that shares with YOU, my loyal followers, the "12 Reasons Why "19" Has My Heart." I have even made a promise to myself that I would do something extra "special" on the 19th of every month this year, something very Fit4Janine, in conjunction with a blog post (and even some throwback pictures for you too).
So, without further ado, today starts the series with "Reason #12 ," and it is coming to you all the way from one of the city's that I hold close to my heart - #newyorkcity

Yesterday was a different day, eating wise. A colleague was leaving so I took him for brekkie - I had eggs florentine (scrapped a lot of hollandaise off) but it was with a base of sweet potato slices instead of bread (genius!) And I had a lunch meeting with a journalist so we had chicken thighs and three different salads (which included kale, beetroot and a few new potatoes, plus much more green stuff). I counted all of what I ate and fair enough I didn’t have (and didn’t need dinner) and I was still within my calories for the day. It’s all about choices and it’s important to keep counting. Whilst I had gone up 1/2 a pound at my weigh in yesterday morning (which I’ll admit was disheartening even though I’ve stuck to my cals and going to the gym), I naughtily weighed this morning and had gone down 2lbs! Will be interesting to see where I end up next week...This worked for my husband, it WILL work for me too 😊 #committed#weightloss#thejourney#princespath#curves#caloriecounting
