Does cryotherapy (applying of ice, cold showers, special low-temperature machines) really work?

✅ There's some researches that shows that cryotherapy helps to get rid of muscle pain. One of them called "The effect of multiple daily applications of ice on biochemical measures, signs, and symptoms associated with exercise-induced muscle damage".

✅ Here should be more researches, studies proving the benefits of cryotherapy, but there's.... none. For good or for bad, there's no other benefits in using cryotherapy, not for muscle recovery at least. Moreover, some research shows that using cryotherapy can actually worsen your recovery.

✅ Cryotherapy may reduce muscle growth, strength and vascular adaptability as cold interrupts normal lymphatic functions for removing inflamed toxins from your body. This can be compared with pain killers effect, that also decreasing these parameters. The more we shutting down the pain, the more we weaken the adaptability of your body. Pain is a normal reaction of your body, that is a part of body adaptation (strength and muscle growth) to training loads.

✅ In USA FDA did not approve usage of cryotherapy ("Is supercooling the body is effective therapy?" Dina Fine Maron).

✅ If you still wanna use cryotherapy, morning is the best time for doing - for activation of nervous system and before going to sleep - reducing body temperature will help you to fall asleep faster and sleep better.

🤚 Los congelados al contrario de lo que se suele pensar, tienen aprox los mismos nutrientes que los frescos ya que se conservan con el congelado. Es una muy buena forma de comer saludable con poco tiempo de preparación. Las únicas contras, es que por lo general no tienen tan buen sabor como los frescos y utilización plásticos (❌ para medio ambiente). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Vanmorgen gestart met Yin bij Om Yoga. Daarna gezellig koffie gedronken en bijgeklets met een oud collega en lekker even met de hond het bos in geweest. De rest van de middag zit ik achter de laptop om een nieuw trainingsprogramma uit te werken. Mooi divers dagje weer ✨
