The new #Asterix movie just released (Asterix and the Secret Potion) reminded of my time at #ParcAsterix , near Paris. While in many ways, it's a theme park with similar rides to every other theme park, the detail of the sets and nods to so many characters from the world of Asterix made the visit very enjoyable.⠀

Так же как солнце ☀ ярко светит посреди безоблачного неба, так и Фестиваль лимонов🍋 в Ментоне окрашивает ярко-желтыми красками еще слегка сонный и тусклый февраль. В этом году знаменитый фестиваль проходит с 16 февраля по 3 марта. Но как и когда он зародился?

Первый Лимон Ментона🍋

Местные жители верят, что Ментон обязан своей репутацией первого в Европе региона, где выращивают лимоны, изгнанию Адама и Евы из Эдемского сада🏞. Легенда гласит, что когда Адама и Еву прогнали из Рая, Ева прихватила с собой лимон. Адам боялся Божьего гнева и попросил Еву выбросить фрукт. Однако пока они шли, Ева никак не могла найти достаточно красивое место, которое было бы достойно этого золотого плода. Наконец, они оказались на берегу лазурного моря. Увидев этот край, Ева поняла, что он больше всего напоминает ей Рай, и лимон было решено посадить в этом изумительном уголке. Позже тут возник лимонный сад и был основан Ментон.

Столетиями Ментон был основным производителем цитрусовых в Европе. В 1928 году хозяин одного из фешенебельных отелей города организовал в его саду выставку цветов🌸🌺 и цитрусовых🍊🍋. Так он хотел привлечь внимание новых посетителей и сделать себе рекламу. Однако эта идея стала настолько популярна и так понравилась властям города, что уже в 1933 году цитрусовое торжество разлилось по улицам прекрасного французского города, и по сей день ежегодно привлекает тысячи туристов.

Стоит раскрыть один секрет. Для всех торжеств цитрусовые привозят из … Испании. А лимоны из садов Ментона используют только для гастрономических удовольствий.
The Lemon Festival In Menton, France
Festival Date :- 16th Feb – 3rd March 2019

The festival began in 1928 to celebrate the Menton lemon. At the time, Menton was the largest exporter of lemons in Europe because of the warm growing climate from the Mediterranean Sea and surrounding mountains. It is now the second largest event on the French Riviera – only topped by the Carnival of Nice. A new theme is chosen for each year of the festival. Some of the past themes have been Broadway, Around the World in Eighty Days and Bollywood. A team of artists create the sunnily colored statues by crafting a wire frame, then using rubber bands to affix the citrus.
Oh so pretty Provence. I love France, I go every year. In fact it is greater than love, France makes me emotional. .
I can’t put my finger exactly on it but it’s probably a combination of beautiful villages, stone houses with shutters (aka. major house envy), seriously good food and 🍷. Plus it is fabulous for kids! France captivates me every single time. .
I’m going to Provence in June and I can’t wait. Any recommendations for things to do/restaurants to eat at? I am still discovering new places. .
