If we have toothache, all we can focus on is toothache and how miserable we are. Once the pain is gone, we don’t think about our teeth anymore. We don’t appreciate the absence of pain. We don’t treasure our own healthiness and well-being until we are miserable. Why do we only remember to turn to the light when its darkness around us? However, with mindfulness, we can treasure our well-being and can even make it last longer. For instance, I had a bunch of therapy sessions for the sake of having some insight into my inner world (didn’t help, btw) and I couldn’t help but notice how the therapist tried to fixate on what made me suffer, what my problems were instead of pointing out how much I had already achieved and had. Fixating on misery is a good starting point as it helps us to identify the issue and can make us work on the problem. However, the Third Noble Truth says we are fully capable of relieving our pain. So, I truly believe we should try practicing mindfulness while it’s still not too late. But maybe I’m wrong. Are we ever right about anything?

Make 2019 the year you treat yourself to an adventure that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

When dancehall meets the divine masculine: I was so happy to hear @aidonia4thgenna speak these words right before his big chune ‘Boring Gyal’. This quick little intro packed a heavy message by provided some substance and sustenance for relationship expectations. Sometimes dancehall is dagga-dagga and sometimes it’s divine masculine. And both are important because as human being we have the capacity for both. This was a nice little Ma’at moment pon di big ship.
