Awesome post by @pheasyque about why you don’t need to worry about the scale, especialIy short term 😊
.
I bet all of you wonder why, even if you start dieting, your weight just doesn’t want to go down. And no, it’s not because you’re “special”, “God hates you” or whatever your reason might be.. the simple answer is: Water retention
.
And besides the muscle gains that could happen for beginners [(and still impair WEIGHT) but not fat loss] let’s take a finer look at what happens to the fat cells once you start dieting
.
When you start eating at a caloric deficit, meaning that you’re now providing less nutrients to your body, for it to use its internal stores of energy, your fat cells start releasing fat for the “missing” energy not coming from your diet
.
However, because these cells are VERY stubborn, they get refilled with water first, before saying the final goodbye
.
It’s like a double check from your body which’s telling you: “are you really wanting me to release this precious stored energy?” 🤔
-
Yeah..😊👍🏼
.
This means your weight could fluctuate alot and even go higher, freak you out more and make you quit, but you shouldn’t
.
I know how frustrating it is to see your weight either stall or go higher when you’re depriving yourself, but that’s just the way it is
.
You’re just one step further from finally losing the water weight which is literally MASKING your progress, and finally reveal your hard work done in the past weeks. -
As always consistency is key. In everything .
Let me know if you have any questions 🤔 - There is also more explanation if you scroll down my page (post with balloons 🎈) 🤗

  • 💥 GETTING ENOUGH WATER? 💦
⠀
How much should you be drinking?
What should you be drinking out of?
Does more water mean more hydration? ⠀
⠀
Quick chat about those sound good? ... Sweetness 😌 ⠀
⠀
So water, (splash, drip 💧) I feel there is no need to speak to the importance — we all know we need it... ⠀
⠀
But JUST water alone would not be able to move through our bodies and hydrate our cells properly 🤔
⠀
You know what plays a big role in that? ⠀
⠀
Sodium 😱
⠀
Potassium also is needed for the process of moving water out of your cells. But here’s the issue, people are treating salt like some taboo shit 😂 ⠀
⠀
And for the wrong reasons. The biggest being water retention/bloating (especially in the fitness space) and heart disease
⠀
To wrap up the previous thought, without enough sodium, one could drink a lot of water and still be dehydrated 😣
⠀
Many point the finger saying sodium increases blood pressure. While there is truth to that, (higher sodium in the blood makes it thicker, causing the heart to pump harder) it isn’t necessarily a bad thing because there is NO clear facts pointing to a reduction in sodium lowering the risk of heart disease
⠀
Heck, Roman soldiers used to get paid in salt! 🧐
⠀
With bloating and water retention — yes! Sodium does help retain/pull water into the cells. Usually people get bloated from going low to sudden high spikes of sodium and/or from constant stresses from life and dieting; your body is trying to protect itself and holding onto everything it can 😅
⠀
Hopefully that took some of the pointless scare of salt away so you’ll try the Elixir of Life 🙃 ⠀
⠀
Make sure you use Sea Salt, my fave is Pink Himalayan. It has dozens and dozens of trace minerals that all play a role in how your body functions 💯 ⠀
⠀
I also avoid plastic bottles, and tap water due to the nasty chemicals 😞
⠀
How much water should you drink a day? It’s tough to say, everyone is different🤷‍♂️
⠀
The average is around a half to a gallon of water a day...
⠀
Those of us working out and sweating more needing the higher end...
⠀
If those above issues are really bothering you, try an elixir in the morning and a few hours before sleep 👍
⠀

  • Let’s talk bloating and water weight. This is a 2 day DIFFERENCE! I honestly couldn’t believe my own eyes! How our bodies react to certain food is crazy to me and how quickly they can bounce back is even more amazing. It’s hard to stay on track when traveling a lot or going here and there, I admit it. But two days back on my nutrition plan and the snap back was real! 👏🏼 #waterweight #mondaymotivation #nevergiveup

  • Sooo this is pretty hard for me to post. But if you didn’t know I have really bad problems with bloating. The first picture was literally so uncomfortable I can’t even begin to explain. Second picture is my stomach in its normal state. I carry most of my fat in my lower stomach and it never goes away unless I’m really lean, but, so my stomach is never super tiny like a lot of other girls. But this picture is when I’m comfortable. But here are some tips for if you are like me and bloat until your stomach is literally hard as a rock😂.
•Drink greens! (this has helped a lot and also makes up for nutrients)
•Go get checked for food sensitivities/stomach issues (personally haven’t done this yet but I am here shortly because 98% sure I have some sort of issue with digestion) •Take digestive enzymes/probiotics •My favorite and most effective one...drink coffee😋☕️ (literally the only reason I drink it in the morning besides energy)
•Last thing is to start supplementing fiber! It can make you bloated at first, but once you implement it daily your body becomes used it and helps a lot! •

____________________________________ 💥7 REASONS YOU GAINED WEIGHT (NOT FAT)💥
-
🦄You Ate a Fistful of Carbs And/or Salty Foods > in which case your body is put under a dark spell cast by an evil witch or wizard. Then your body soaks up excess water and holds onto it so when you step on the scale you weigh more than usual. It’s not fat, mind you. Just excess water. Once the spell is gone your weight will drop back to normal.
-
☕️You Ate Later Than Usual > This isn’t magic of any sort. This is literally just you eating later at night so when you weigh-in you have more food in your stomach so you weigh more than usual. Again, it's not fat - just stomach content.
-
🦄You Weighed Yourself Earlier Than Usual > which also means you had less time to digest the food you ate the night before so, again, you weigh more simply because of more food in your stomach. Worth nothing, this isn’t magic either. Just logic.
-
☕️You Need to Drop a Dookie > which is more common than most people think. Sometimes you're all backed up and you really just need to crank one out. It might seem like dark magic at play but not pooping will affect what you weigh. Also, for what it’s worth, apples are “nature’s broom,” as Mad Eye Moody once told me.
-
🦄You're Stressed Out > and when you're stressed your body often holds onto water weight which can make you bloated and heavier. This is one reason why women often gain weight (not fat) on their period - they get bloated which affects the scale. Keeping in mind...this is NOT fat. Just water weight.
-
☕️You Lifted Heavy Weights Yesterday > and when your muscles are repairing they "soak up" water and a whole bunch of nutrients to recover so they basically act like a sponge. And, as you know, a soaked sponge weighs much more than a dry one. So, once again, weight...not fat.
-
🦄☕️Your takeaway? WEIGHT DOES NOT EQUAL FAT.
-
Love you.

  • Picture this. you've been dialed in with your diet and exercise, but despite being consistent, you wake up 2-4 pounds heavier than the day before...
-
Like, WTF!? 🤬
-
A lot of folks have a love-hate relationship with the scale ❤️💔. When it’s going down, they’re happier than a squirrel with a shiny tin can of mixed nuts 🥜🐿. The second it goes up, though, they curse the weight loss gods & assume all their hard work is for nothing 😫
-
Here’s the deal. There are lots ‘n’ lots of reasons why your body weight may fluctuate up 2-3 pounds in a single day.
–
Maybe you weighed in later than usual? ⏰ Maybe you ate more salt, and you're retaining a bit of water? 💦 Maybe you used a different scale that normal?
-
Seriously, there are HUNDREDS of things that can lead to higher-than-expected daily weigh-ins.
-
But one thing I can promise you is that it's NOT fat gain ❌
–
Think about it… If you could actually gain (or lose) 2-3 pounds of pure fat in a single day, you could theoretically lose 60-90 pounds in a single month 🗓. Obviously, that’s not the way things work. Losing fat takes time… a LONG ASS amount of time. Changes in body fat don’t happen day to day. Heck, they barely happen week to week.
-
Bottom Line ✅: Occasionally, your weight is going to fluctuate. Sometimes by as much as 2-4 pounds in a single day… and that’s okay.
-
The large majority of that weight is from water, food, body stuffz, etc... NOT body fat.
–
So chill out, relax, trust the system, and continue focusing on the things you can control — your consistency and adherence to the plan — and your weight WILL go down over time 📉🙂👍

  • Yesss I’m feeling so much better. 🙈 ive been working on defining my whole body and I’m noticing such a difference when I drop water weight and incorporate full body regime into my workouts. For my Yt channel this week, I’ve done a quick, full body workout for you! You can repeat this twice or three times or just do it once if you’re low on time 🕺🏼

  • This pic is what 8 litres of water is. Drinking 8 litres of water a day is hard, but I wanted to get my body and muscles tight for this weekend. I usually drink 4 litres
Sunday- 6 litres
Monday - 8 litres
Tuesday- 10 litres
Wednesday- 10 litres
Thursday I'm going to start cutting down to 4 litres until Saturday morning.
This trick helps you "dry out" faster. So your muscles are more defined and it helps rid your body of excess water weight faster by tricking your body into flushing more when you cut back, which results in your muscles looking tighter.

  • × that moment when the scale doesn't show the weight loss you expected 😫😓 I did not lose the 1.5 kg I set out as my goal last week. In fact, I gained 0.7 kg, which is completely unexpected.
.
I had 2 cheat dinners but nothing too crazy to cause a dramatic calorie surplus, so I suspect some additional factors causing this weight gain. Water weight? Muscle gains? Approaching shark week? 🤷🏾‍♀️
.
Yes, these moments will pop up in a weight loss journey. Last year I would've thrown in the towel and call it a day. But not this time. The scale does not tell the whole story. I will continue my healthy eating habits until it's my lifestyle. This small hiccup will not defeat me 💪🏾
.
Too bad I busted my knee last Friday, otherwise I would've hit the gym like crazy. Luckily my injury is healing slowly but I can't run or swim this week yet. So, walking will have to do the trick! 🤗

  • Do you want lose water weight and/or bloating?
.
Here’s how:
•Consistently drink fuck tons of water, your body will retain water if it’s dehydrated for long periods of time. The more you drink the more you flush.
•Eat appropriate amounts of carbs (overeating carbs will have you holding water & bloating, but don’t worry it’s just temporary) and IM NOT SAYING CUT THEM OUT.
•Avoid over-doing it with high sodium foods as well. Aim for somewhere around 2,000mg, or even a bit less. Salt is one of our electrolytes so again everything in moderation.
•Vitamin b6 and magnesium oxide work with the liver to help flush extra water, they’re good for PMSing, bloating & swelling too. If you take a multi these are likely in it.
•Have some peppermint tea, I find it helps with bloating
•Eat asparagus, it can act as a natural diuretic
•Sweat it out!
.
It only takes one meal to re-gain water weight & bloating so don’t get hung up on it. To understand fat loss check back a few posts. While you’re at it throw away your scale and find a new way to track your fitness progress💪
.
Work hard, stay hydrated & take your multi! 🙃

  • ***CANDIDA & WEIGHT LOSS?!***
.
.
Take a couple of minutes to read this awesome info right here👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
.

There is so much research on the importance of gut health to our overall health, including its importance for healthy weight loss. If you search candida and weight loss, you can literally read for hours. Now, getting rid of candida involves so much more than taking our awesome Probio 5. We must also focus on eliminating foods from our diet which are causing food sensitivities, inflammation, and weakening our gut lining, like gluten, dairy, hydrogenated oils, processed foods, sugar, artificial sweeteners, and high fructose corn syrup, just to name a few. .
.
Losing weight is never the body’s first priority. It may be your personal priority, but the body has its own agenda! Fighting infection, keeping the heart and lungs going and managing blood pressure and circulation are always going to trump “weight loss” from the body’s point of view.
.
.
So how do we lose weight? You have to address your gut health!!
.
.
Candida overgrowth can affect almost every area of the body. It is the result of the yeast in our body overgrowing, and it doesn't need to be OBVIOUS to mean it's present. You also do not have to be overweight to have excess candida. .
.
Candida feeds on sugars, so it will demand sweets to keep itself fed. It is also a cause of the damaged gut lining known as “Leaky Gut”. It disturbs our neurotransmitters, our metabolism, and makes us crave sweets. .
.
As the immune system deals with this fungus, the toxic load on the lymphatic system causes the body to hold water. We hold water to dilute toxins in the blood, lymph, kidneys and colon. The more toxic you are, the more likely you are to hold water.
.
.
This water weight affects more than your clothing size… It’s one of the primary reasons for high blood pressure. If the blood contains more fluid than normal, it has to pump harder than normal. .
.
Weight loss occurs naturally as the body gets healthier by killing the candida off, reducing inflammation, balancing hormones, making better food choices, and a good fitness plan. This is not a quick fix, but it is the healthiest way to lose weight.

  • It’s quite common to do many toilet trips especially when just starting keto as you lose water weight and your body is adjusting. It does get better. Be sure to keep drinking plenty of water even if you are going to the toilet heaps and keep ensuring you are getting enough electrolytes. 💧 keep drinking.......

  • I don’t love the word ‘detox’ because it’s not what we eat that detoxes us. Our bodies detox every single day, super efficiently. Going on a ‘detox’ is like so 2015! 😂 But it’s also really important to understand that certain nutrients help your body do this more efficiently! Just because your lawn is already growing, doesn’t mean a little fertilizer won’t make it even more lush and healthy. 🌱🌱
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sooooo I’m not gonna call this a #detoxsmoothie. 🚫 I’m going to call it a support-your-body’s-natural-detoxification-systems smoothie... 🤔🤔🤔 think it will catch on??
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anyway, this smoothie helps your body do one thing REALLY well: pee out extra water that you were retaining. If you get PMS water retention or are sensitive to high sodium meals and get puffed up after eating out, this nutrient-dense drink will help. It’s packed with natural diuretics and works right away. 💦💦💦
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Want the recipe? Click the link in my bio and subscribe to my newsletter because it’s going out TOMORROW. Exclusive. Not for the blog, not for the ‘gram, insiders only. 😉 Get in on the action.

  • Want to know bikini 👙 model’s best kept secret to beating the bloat & reducing excess water weight?
💦
Believe it or not its the vegetable you hated as a kid! Or at least I did. ASPARAGUS.
💦
Days before my first fitness competition my coach encouraged me to take a banned diuretic to help me shed the last few pounds of water weight. Little did I know at the time there were significant health risks. Increased urination can lead to mineral loss, decrease potassium levels, muscle cramping, and extreme stress on the kidneys. 😱 If I could speak to my 20 year old self I would tell her to do her homework 📚.
💦
For a healthier option, when feeling the bloat from PMS, or after a salty meal try eating 1-2 servings of asparagus. Warning ⚠️ your pee is going to smell awful!! It just comes with the territory, sorry! The good news is that asparagus falls under the Clean 15 list meaning it is less likely to have been contaminated by pesticides, so if organic isn’t possible, you’ll be ok with standard produce.

What bad advice have you been given that you shake your head at today?

-
Love you.

  • Cheat days are like national holidays to people trying to lose weight. They work hard and remained dedicated for weeks on end, with visions of their favorite high calorie foods dancing in their heads as the day draws closer. 🤤
_
As someone who’s had quite a few cheat days, I can tell you that most of the time they are as glorious as you picture them. 😂
_
But then the next day when you weigh yourself, you come crashing back down to reality… More often than not, you’ve put on some weight; a significant amount of weight. 😱
_
For example, I had a cheat day back in December, and when I weighed myself the next day I was 11 pounds heavier. ELEVEN pounds in one day.
_
People FREAK out when they see this weight gain. “How did I gain so much?!” “I didn’t eat THAT much food.” “All the progress I’ve made is gone after one Big Mac and Fries.” 😭
_
RELAX.
_
The weight gain your seeing is not all fat! In fact, barely any of it is.
_
Cheat days mean you’re eating a larger volume of food, so naturally, you’re gonna have more food in your system still digesting the next day, making you weigh more. Also, cheat days typically include a LOT more sodium and carbs than your standard day of eating, and both of these things lead your body to retain more water, increasing your weight even more so. There will be some fat gain from your cheat day since you were in a big caloric surplus, but its a very small portion of the weight gain you’re seeing.
_
My advice for people is to NEVER weigh yourself the day after a cheat day; the number you’ll see is not an accurate measure of your “true” weight and seeing it will only upset you and potentially sway your resolve to continue dieting. Give your body a couple of days to shed the bloat and then weigh yourself to see where you’re really at. 👍🏼
_
