So I've been a bit quiet, yeah? Took some time to think...quite a commodity these days, time to process, to sink into some new work. WIP 'Eclipse' takes found tapestries, partially unpicks and replaces them with needleworked discs of colour. It's a slow, process driven work, as i work through the death of my mum last year- she had a mind like a steel trap, worked as an archeologist until she was 80, and then her mind slowly succumbed to dementia. ..gaps in knowledge, in memory, in understanding. She was an avid knitter and needleworker & they helped her order her mind, right up until she couldn't remember how to do them anymore. What happens when we unravel? Where does all that acquired knowledge go? Who are we when we forget who we are? Do we have an elemental nature or is there just void? So this work is both an elegy and a celebration of her and of women's handcraft & time spent, stitch after stitch. #wip#womenswork#sydneyart#needlework

I'm new here in instagram, just sharing this experimentation of artstyle to all of you guys.
Steps: I started first with finding my inspiration (I get some inspiration from Sakimichan and Ilya Kuvshinov), second I do a messy sketch, third I observed and familiarize the relation of color theory, fourth I put the colors/values on my canvas then I nailed in blending and rendering it. This still a WIP though.
experimenting with #clipstudiopaint for my latest #lettering assignment! this one's all about #soundeffects !! it's a challenge, but one I'm having a good time with!! pls enjoy this #wip , and double brownie points if anyone from mat tech recognizes our protagonist 😉
