Last week when I finished shooting @thewhiskylist new release, The Scozzie, I sat down with the pour and just relaxed into the dram. It had a beautiful nose and it was delicious to boot and I just had this wonderful moment where I remembered how I got to this point and how much I love what I do.
In the chaos of shooting, processing and working, it is easy for me to forget the joy I get from taking the photos that I do. 2018 has been tough personally with a few scares this year and bouts of chronic fatigue but this year also managed to be one of the most outstanding professional years I have had.
I wanted to say thank you to the wonderful distillers of craft spirits in Australia who have opened their homes to Heath and I and shared their love of what they do with my camera. Your pure joy, passion and generosity have been a gift and we are so blessed to call so many of you friends.
I also wanted to say thank you to my amazing clients who have taken a leap of faith in a relatively unknown photographer and supported my work with love and zeal. For speaking out and sharing my photos (with licence hahaha) and spreading the word about my work.
I especially want to say a big thank you to the wonderful hospo family who have adopted me this year - who have put up with me sticking a lens in their face and flashing them whilst they flair, for the hugs, the fucking amazing drinks and for some of the most memorable events.
And finally, I want to thank you, the reader/viewer, for taking the time to click on my links, for showing me love with your likes and comments and just sharing this journey with me.
For now, as I wind up work this week to spend time with the family, it's time to gift you with one last set of photos for 2018. This little guy stole our hearts on the weekend and we told our friend, John Homann, that we would steal little Ralphy when he wasn't looking because he was just So. Damn. Cute.
Merry Christmas and happy new year my friends and please enjoy a few shots of my first visit with Ralphy.
I have had a blast with this latest shoot for a client - SKU-like product photos for a website. Shooting hundreds of bottles and other whisky paraphernalia has been a joy and also a wonderful learning journey with light. Processing for this job will be a long task but worth it in the end for shots like this.
The wonderful Pino’s Vino E Cucina in Alexandria are about to celebrate their second anniversary on 25 September! I have had the absolute pleasure of shooting parts of their new menu and cocktails and couldn’t be happier for this beautiful venue serving traditional Italian cuisine! I have loved everything I sampled - every ingredient is lovingly sourced and served to maximise its flavour and freshness.
One of my favourite breakfasts lately is @paramountcoffeesydney - Soft baked eggs on a habanero salsa (it is tangy and not that hot), kale, labne and smoked white pudding served with a side of garlic toast. Enjoyed with an incredible (and vegan!) bounty milkshake. Cannot wait to go back!

The release of my Starward Distillery album includes this image which was selected as one of the souvenir images for the @oakbarrel Sydney Whisky Fair. Head to my Facebook page (link in my bio) to see more images from my last two visits.
Sydney Whisky Fair is the biggest time of year for me but it is all worth it to see great friends again from all over Australia. Excited to see Gareth and Angela from Fleurieu Distillery as they present at the Distiller’s Dinner.
